TWINLAB VEGE FUEL (UNFLAVOURED)
The Claim:
Twinlab Vege Fuel Product Guide

- All Vegetable
- Lactose Free and Approved For People on Milk-Free Diets (Lactose Intolerant)
- Sugar Free and Contains No Artificial Sweetners
- Unflavored
- 100% Pure
As far as I can see, all the above statements are true.
"Vege Fuel is more than just an ingredient for a high protein shake; it can be used in cooking, much like flour, producing high protein foods that are extremely low in fat. A bodybuilder's dream come true!"
I wouldn't use Twinlab Vege Fuel in place of flour but it can definitely be a healthy addition to a recipe.
"Vege Fuel can be used as a meat substitute. Or picture something like this: your basic blueberry muffin, containing about 260 calories, 40 grams of carbohydrates, less than 1 gram of fat and 35 grams of high-qualigy complete protein."
That's a protein packed muffin! The main question that remains is...how will that muffin taste? We'll go more in depth on the topic of taste in the category entitled "taste."
In regards to Twinlab Vege Fuel's claim, I was very pleased because I felt that it was on point. Therefore, for the claim, I award Twinlab Vege Fuel a 9/10.
Taste:
As discussed before, it's great to have healthy alternatives. However, these alternatives aren't very helpful if you despise their taste because you will more than likely avoid eating them. Unfortunately, Twinlab Vege Fuel has a very bland taste. I mixed it in orange juice and found that it was difficult to tolerate the poor taste. Therefore, for taste, I award Twinlab Vege Fuel Unflavoured a 2/10.
Solubility/Texture:
I was pleased to discover that Twinlab Vege Fuel had great solubility. It mixed in very well when using a blender. On the other hand, Twinlab Vege Fuel had a very chalky texture that was not appealing. Therefore, for solubility/texture, I award Twinlab Vege Fuel a 6/10.
Effectiveness:
Assuming that the amino acid profile is based on 1 serving (it doesn't state either way, so I'm unable to be certain), it has an impressive amount of many of the amino acids. For example, it contains nearly 6 grams of L - Glutamic Acid and almost 2.5 grams of L- Arginine. Usually you'll find under 5 grams of L- Glutamic Acid and less than 1 gram of L- Arginine in a serving of whey protein. However, 1 serving of Twinlab Vege Fuel contains 31 grams of protein. Normally a single serving of whey protein will contain 21-25 grams of protein (in my experience). Therefore, to make an accurate comparison, you must adjust accordingly. That being said, Twinlab Vege Fuel still has a fairly impressive amino acid makeup. Therefore, for effectiveness, I award Twinlab Vege Fuel an 8/10.
Overall Review:
I was very pleased with Twinlab Vege Fuel's claim because it was on point and didn't stray at all far from the truth. I was displeased with the taste of Twinlab Vege Fuel as I am with most soy proteins that are unflavoured. Also, while the solubility was good, the texture was unappealing. On the other hand, Twinlab Vege Fuel appears to be an effective addition to a healthy diet. Therefore, for an overall review, I award Twinlab Vege Fuel Unflavoured a 6.3/10.
