The Suzanne Somers diet (Somersizing) was developed by TV and film
actress Suzanne Somers. The diet is based on the principle of low
carbohydrate, high protein consumption and is less restrictive than
many diets out there (sometimes as high as 1,500 calories per day).
The diet involves food combining, and eliminates some food from the
diet. Some good, some bad; it eliminates junk food for the most
part, but also eliminates some healthy foods.

During the diet, fruits should be consumped by themselves, and
vegetables should be eaten with fats and
proteins. Something which should please every dieter is that there
is no portion control and the diet also recommends eating smaller
meals throughout the day as opposed to the traditional three
squares per day. This is scientifically proven to be better for the
body, in terms of optimizing metabolic rate and keeping blood sugar
levels high and consistent throughout the day.

No exercise is mentioned, but given the fact that this diet is not
overly restrictive in the number of calories consumed during the
day, some light cardio or aerobic
activity should be included since energy levels should permit such
activity.

you like, so in that sense it is not restrictive. It only really
restricts sugar intake, but as a result, you will restrict many
unhealthy foods and other junk food. With this diet, there is not a
need to monitor portion sizes, and it advocates eating smaller
meals more frequently throughout the day, as opposed to the
traditional diet of three square meals a day.

This diet is pretty good, but is lacking in the necessary
scientific evidence to support it. The diet also restricts fiber,
and is somewhat complicated to follow at times.

The best part of the Suzanne Somers diet is that it eliminates
junk food, and as more and more people are finding out, it is
actually the quality of food consumed, and not the
quantity which causes gains in weight. The Suzanne Somers
diet deserves credit for helping people make smarter food choices.
However, food combining is not support scientifically, and the diet
eliminates many healthy food sources, which is not necessary, and
will not help you to lose weight. However, there are many positive
aspects of this diet, and it certainly worked for Suzanne Somers.
It deserves credit, despite some areas which could be improved.
