REVIEW OF SUPREME PROTEIN CARB CONSCIOUS BAR
Back To Top
Be sure to read this review because it's a three-in-one! That's right this is Steve Sidorski here again and I am reviewing these three flavors of the Supreme Protein bar: Caramel Nut Chocolate, Peanut Butter Crunch and Rocky Road Brownie. I paid $2.99 for each bar at a local store and believe this price to be inflated just as well as most other supplements when you buy them in most convenient stores, so I would recommend that you visit http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/supreme/supremebars.html for a more competitive price.
First I will discuss the Rocky Road Brownie flavor. The outside layer is a combination of peanuts and chocolate and is quite tasty! It very much resembles a Turtles chocolate candy. Once you get under that you will probably feel disappointed just as I was. The white layer has a mildly sweet taste to it but I would say that it most closely resembles vanilla. The black layer that is also underneath the coating also tastes pretty good although it is made up of mostly whey protein. My recommendation is that you enjoy each part of the bar individually rather than having three tastes in your mouth at once. The rationale behind this is that you lose out by eating the bar all at once and it helps your digestive system if you eat each part one at a time. I will not say this again in this review but I recommend you do that for the other two flavors as well based on my sample of each of these Supreme Protein bar flavors. Personally I would rate this bar a seven and a half out of ten and would honestly give this flavor a pass in comparison.
Now I will talk about the Peanut Butter Crunch flavor. I list this flavor second because most of the time I do not enjoy peanut butter flavored supplements and I do not want this to be the last thing you remember because it is my own personal bias and I do not believe it should affect your decision about this or even the other flavors. So anyway, including the outside milk chocolate coating, it is hard to take a bite at any part of the bar without tasting peanut butter. Fortunately, this is a good peanut butter taste. There are a few peanuts on both sides of the bar but the majority of the volume of this bar is a combined mixture of peanut butter and whey which I find to taste very enjoyable! I like it so much that I am contemplating buying some online as a personal energy provider for when I am away from a blender. If you leave it long enough in your mouth, and once the Reese's pieces cup taste is gone, then you gotta chew on the whey which kind of tastes like nothing at all but definitely not a bad thing. In fact, I give the taste of this bar a nine out of ten. Check out the nutrition information on Matt's website if you are intrigued by this opinion and want to know more.
This leaves me to my third and final flavor, the Caramel Nut Chocolate. I give this flavor an eight out of ten because it is slightly better than the Rocky Road Brownie flavor but less tasty than the Peanut Butter Crunch. If you leave it in your mouth long enough, once the milk chocolate taste is gone, then you hit Caramel Country! Once you get to that point it is probably a good time to chew the caramel part down the hatch with the whey protein at the same time to minimize the negative aftertaste to this particular whey.
In conclusion, I was able to finish all three bars at the same time while still craving more. I believe that protein bars can be quite addicting especially if you tend to expend a lot of energy like I do. Try riding a bike across town and back in minus twenty degree weather for two hours like I did prior to writing this review, without craving energy bars!
