REVIEW OF SNI PROTEIN WAFERS

SNI Protein Wafers
SNI has made a product different from any other that I have seen before in their protein wafer product. Most consumers of supplements will be familiar with protein powders and protein bars, but a protein wafer is something very unique and the first like it that I had ever tried.
What's In It?:

Each SNI protein wafer contains 10 calories. It contains under half a gram of carbohydrates and under half a gram of fat as well as one gram of protein. Other ingredients include Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Natural And Artificial Flavors, Natural And Artificial Colors, Fructose, Acesulfame Potassium. As I have mentioned in some of the video reviews which I made for my YouTube channel, FitnessByMatt I really dislike Acesulfame Potassium as I feel it makes everything taste worse.
I tried the "Strawberry Banana" flavour of the Elite Series wafers and felt that the artificial flavouring wasn't anything horrible, I think primarily due to the small serving size. After all, you are getting such a small dose of the artificial sweeteners that it doesn't really stand out particularly strongly.
The protein wafer treats are crunchy and more or less what you would expect from a wafer.
I experienced no side effects from this product but I never consumed much more than one or two wafers at a time. At such a low dose, side effects can hardly be expected. Perhaps had I consumed a larger volume of wafers I would have experienced side effects but as it stands, I experienced none.
Protein is just protein and although many different protein companies make extravagant claims about how much greater the absorption of their protein is in comparison to other products on the market or whole foods, the fact is, protein is basically just protein. I have said this before and I will repeat it in review after review if need be, just to drive home the point that diet is more important than supplementation or at the very least, supplementation should not be seriously considered until a proper diet is in order. Supplements are intended to be convenient and that is one reason why people take them despite having a diet which is out of order, but to make the best of supplements a good diet is very important. As for the SNI Elite Series Protein Wafers, they contain such little protein content per wafer that you would have to consume a lot of them to get a lot of protein per serving, in which case a protein bar or protein power [shakes] may be more desirable.
I think this is an interesting product and I am happy that it exists just so that more selection and variety is on the market and because it provides people with an opportunity to consume protein in a way which is slightly non-conventional. With that said, each container only contains 30 wafers which have a gram of protein in each wafer. That means that the entire bottle is but a 30 gram protein serving. For $13.99 [the cost per bottle] you would effectively be getting as much protein as a high quality protein bar or a serving of a very good protein powder, both of which come at a much lower cost. Whether or not this is worth the convenience of these wafers will depend on the individual, but personally I would want more protein per serving and greater cost efficiency than this product offers. I still think this product is a good idea though and I am happy it is available on the market. Overall, I give this product a 6.5/10.
