Slow-Mo Reps - Bodybuilding Shocking Principle




Although many bodybuilders perform reps at a moderate to fast pace, much can be done by performing reps at a slower than usual speed. If reps are performed in a slow manner, emphasis on form will more likely be adhered to than if the reps are performed at a fast pace. Using slow, low speed repetitions cuts out any momentum movement which will allow the bodybuilder to use more weight. The term for using more weight than good form will allow is called ego lifting. Ego lifters tend to work their egos and not their muscles as much as they probably want to! The best way to eliminate the possibility of becoming an ego lifter is to perform strict reps or slow motion reps as descrbed in this article. If the reps are drawn out slowly enough, both the positive and negative motion will be drawn out and you may feel the intensity twice as much as before. You will be moving the weight with no sudden jerking or thrusting, and the weights will be used under full control at all times. From there, it is obvious this will create a high quality workout.
