Site Enhancements
Well - if you're reading this it means that you
are looking at the new look site. Apart from the improved graphics there is a
real machine at work behind the pages. Our resident genius - Jim - has written a
completely brand new member's section management program that means member's now
get an experience that is unrivalled on any other similar site, I was going
to put competing, but it would not be true:-)
By the way, if as a member you have submitted a
question or a support ticket and Jim has not got back to you with his usual
speed then don't despair he's on the case. He's just been putting in so many
hours that he is a little behind on a few things.
Whilst we were at it we also decided to upgrade
(yet again) servers. And VERY IMPORTANTLY for YOU GUYS we still and never will
be located in the US.
For the security concious (and that should
include you), a server in the US (like most other simialr sites) is much cheaper
than a European server, BUT it means the powers that be can unleash their
snooping software and have all your details faster than you can say
"Carnivore". If you don't know what I'm talking about here then read
up about carnivore. Here's a simple
article that explains why you should be very careful on a site with a US
server.
The new server is state of the art, and without
going into too much details means speed, reliability, and PRIVACY for you.
Here's how you can help us...
Modifying a site as big as this is no easy
task, and we do not have the resources of Yahoo - so if whilst you are surfing
around the site you see any images missing, links brokien, pages missing, bugs,
error messages etc. the please don't get angry - just send us an email to support@steroid-encyclopaedia.com
and Jim will put it on his "to do" list.
