PowerBar Triple Threat Layered Bar

The protein supplement bar I am reviewing is called Triple Threat Layered Bar which is produced by PowerBar, the market leader in protein bars. The flavour is caramel peanut and further details are available through http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/pow/triple.html where the price, per 15 pack, is about one-third of the price you will pay for an individual bar in stores.

When you open it you will see an entire layer of chocolate coating on the outside of the bar which is consistent on either side of the bar and the top and bottom. This is good because you can bite anywhere and still get that awesome chocolaty taste. Underneath is a bunch of other stuff which includes caramel on the top of the bar just under the chocolate coating as well as a few peanuts and it is real caramel not that made-up imitation stuff. Make sure not to eat this bar before dinner because once you take a bite you probably will not be able to stop and then you will ruin a healthy dinner. It is great to have a bar on the road when you are hungry or worn out.

For those with food allergies, be aware that this product contains traces of almond, milk, peanut, wheat and sesame ingredients. For those who are not allergic, the suggested usage is to have one bar around a half-hour before activity with one to two cups of water. More water does not hurt.

Whether you're on the trails or in the office, PowerBar Triple Threat is the ideal anytime of the day tasty and nutritious snack except before big meals. These protein bars are a delicious and nutritious way to snack. They provide you with enough energy for the short run yet are offered along with nutrition which is essential for the long run.

My only knocks against this bar are minor ones in that it only has 10g of protein, 30g of carbohydrates and it has more saturated fat than good fats. Having three times as many carbohydrates then protein in my opinion is not acceptable for those who needs protein more.

On the other hand, this bar has over 400g of potassium and under 200g of sodium as well as many of the different vitamins and minerals essential for daily values. Because of the awesome taste, you probably will not get tired of them when you order 15 but I would recommend another PowerBar type such as PowerBar Sport, PowerBar Harvest or PowerBar Protein Plus, to name a few, for the next 12-20 bars you order.

My rating is 8.5 out of 10 which is 4.5 out of 5 for flavour and 4 out of 5 for nutritional aspects of the bar.
