Barbell Flat Bench Press - Description:


Purpose

(1) To develop the chest.

Instructions

[1] Sit on the pec deck fly machine with your back flat on the backrest.
[2] Adjust the seat as needed.
[2] Use the foot lever to push the padded arm levers forward and place your forearms on the pads. Some machines offer more than one choice of handle so you can grab the ones that you prefer. Put your upper arms approximately parallel to the floor.
[3] Push the padded arm levers together while you squeeze your chest.
[4] Return to the starting position and repeat the movement. There are different types of pec deck machines, some with pads as seen in this video and others without pads and only handles. You can also perform this exercise using pulleys or exercise bands.

Tip:

[1] Exhale as you push the pads together and inhale as you return to the starting position.
