MLO BioProtein Bars Review By Matt C
MLO BioProtein Bars
MLO BioProtein bars are one of a number of protein bars that I have tried in recent times. At this point, since I have reviewed so many different protein and energy bars, that I have a very good basis of judgment for any one particular protein bar and as more time passes, my reviews will become more and more accurate in terms of comparison of protein/energy bars with other ones available on the market.
Here are some of the important nutritional facts about MLO BioProtein bars at a glance:
- 320 calories
- 60 calories of total fat
- 7 grams of total fat
- 3.5 grams of saturated fat
- 0 grams of trans fat
- 0 mg of cholesterol
- 220mg of sodium
- 160mg of potassium
- 43g of carbohydrates
- 1 gram of dietary fiber
- 37 grams of sugar
- 21 grams of protein
MLO BioProtein bars also contain a multitude of vitamins and minerals in addition to what is listed above.
MLO claims that the MLO BioProtein Bars are "Energy-Providing Carbohydrates, Vitamins, And Minerals!" with the following properties:
I will analyze each of these claims below individually, and also comment on a few other qualities of the MLO BioProtein bars and finally complete the report with an "Overall Review".
- Simple and complex carbohydrates for quick and sustained energy.
- Unique VITA-OX formula provides antioxidants vitamins A, C, & E and selenium for maximum training and enhanced recovery.
- Great taste! Voted the best tasting energy bar.
- Good nutrition for on-the-go snacking for adults and children.
- Extra energy any time of the day.
"Simple and complex carbohydrates for quick and sustained energy."
With both types of carbohydrates present in the MLO BioProtein bars, it can be said that they are not simply protein bars, but energy bars to boot, giving the bar the best of both worlds, and something which health enthuasists interested in a quick protein source will be interested in, as well as those interested in a quick energy source.
"Unique VITA-OX formula provides antioxidants vitamins A, C, & E and selenium for maximum training and enhanced recovery."
It is also unique for a protein bar to contain such a variety of items, not all of which are expected by the user. It is nice to see a bar which delivers above and beyond the expectations that people have for it.
"Great taste! Voted the best tasting energy bar."
I will expand on this further in more detail below, but I will definitely agree that the BioProtein bars by MLO are incredibly good tasting.
"Good nutrition for on-the-go snacking for adults and children."
Without question, this bar is safe for both adults and children and can be a part of a balanced and healthy diet.
"Extra energy any time of the day."
I prefer to eat my protein bars in between meals or immediately post-workout in lieu of (or combined with) a protein shake. That said, they can definitely be consumed any time of the day.
I tried the following three flavours of BioProtein bars by MLO:
- Chocolate Peanut Butter
- Cookies & Cream
- Double Chocolate
I liked all of them, and I would say they are all about equal depending on your preference. I happen to prefer chocolate flavoured products over cookies & cream flavoured products on the average, and the same held here. I suppose if I were to pick a favourite it would be the chocolate peanut butter since it was flavoured with both chocolate and peanut butter as opposed to just chocolate (only more of it) in the double chocolate flavour. That said, I still quite enjoyed the double chocolate bar and found it to be very close to the chocolate peanut butter bar, with only the cookies & cream one not comparable to the above two in my opinion and solely based on my preference of chocolate. Those who like cookies & cream will likely enjoy the MLO BioProtein bar also. The texture of the bars were pretty well perfect. One thing I can say about the sensation of eating the bar is that it is similar to eating a steak in that it feels "heavy". A steak feels heavily due to its high concentration of protein and these bars are no different - with the high concentration of protein comes that heavy feeling. With 320 calories per serving, it is not surprising that it would feel that way.
In terms of taste, and nutrition/caloric content, MLO BioProtein bars are very good bars which I definitely award an A+ and can easily recommend. The only other consideration that will likely be on the minds of the majority of supplement consumers will be cost, and the MLO BioProtein bars cost $15.95 for 12 bars, which is a pretty good price, and definitely not expensive as far as protein bars go. I especially enjoyed the chocolate flavours and would recommend this product for anyone seeking a protein or energy bar.
