ISS Research Whey Matrix Review By Matt Canning
I had ordered ISS Research Whey Matrix from bodybuilding.com when a friend of mine requested it. He is in the process of cutting and wanted a protein powder which contained a caloric breakdown which would help him to achieve his goals. He has just finished a cycle of Xyience NOX-CG3 and wanted to cut down a little, including a clean high quality protein product in his diet which consisted of a balance of healthy foods. He also wanted to use ephedrine and caffeine to achieve his weight loss goals. I decided to sample ISS's Whey Matrix to see if the quality was what I expected it to be, and also decided to make myself a heaping shake at the time of writing this review in order to be completely certain of its quality.
One scoop of ISS Research Whey Matrix is 32 grams and contains a total of 130 calories. Only two grams are from fat and six grams are from carbohydrates with 22 grams from protein. This means you get a heaping serving of protein in one scoop, without too much fat or carbohydrates which is desirable for those who do not wish to have a diet too high in either macronutrient.
ISS Research offers the following flavours for their Whey Matrix protein powder:
- Cinnamon Oatmeal
- Cookies & Cream
I am a big fan of chocolate flavour protein powders as is my friends and so he picked out the chocolate flavour. Premium flavours for a premium product!
Excellent taste! =) One thing you will probably note is that Whey Matrix does not taste artificially flavoured! It is also especially important for some of you to note that it is not incredibly sweet. It is soft tasting, so for those of you not interested in overly or artificially sweetened products, this supplement may be for you. In contrast, Champion Heavyweight Gainer 900, a weight gain powder, is VERY sweet. Whey Matrix is just the opposite and will be a benefit for this looking for a softer tasting protein powder. Also note that there is a reason for the taste of Whey Matrix - it contains no aspartame and has no sugar added.
ISS Research Whey Matrix promises ease of mixability, and I would tend to agree. I mixed my shakes either in milk or water (usually milk) and it mixed easily, with some of the protein powder settling at the top, but most of it mixing easily and blending with the milk for a smooth shake. I would guess it mixes even better in a shaker bottle as protein powders generally do.
ISS Research Whey Matrix is an excellent protein product for a number of reasons - first off it is versatile. It can be used either for bodybuilder's bulking up or cutting, or simply by people looking for a nutritious health supplement. It is also glutamine peptide enhanced, so in addition to having a healthy breakdown of calories, it has an added bonus which is particularly helpful for those wishing to increase performance. It tastes great and mixes well and is also very affordable - five pounds only costs $26.94! I find that you are paying an economy price for a premium product so you get the best of both worlds. If you like protein shakes which are not overly sweet, you will also like Whey Matrix. Given the sum of its good qualities as well as its affordability, I would definitely endorse this product.
