They are going a bit far here. I mean, what if the person used steroids before they used this creatine? Obviously, the use of this creatine isn't going to give them the most amazing gains they have ever seen.
What is it and where does it come from?
Simply put, creatine monohydrate is the most popular and effective bodybuilding supplement on the market. People consistently using creatine are making HUGE, AMAZING gains!
I cycle on and off creatine, the same as I do with caffeine use. Let me be the first to tell you that you should only expect moderate gains. This is a supplement, not a magic powder. If you want HUGE, AMAZING gains, then use a serious steroid cycle and stop wasting your time with supplements.
There is one good reason why three out of four of the '96 summer Olympic medalists used creatine: it works and it works well. A French scientist first discovered creatine in 1832, but it was not until 1923 that scientists discovered that over 95% of creatine is stored in muscle tissue. The first published report of creatine having bodybuilding effects was The Journal of Biological Chemistry in, get this, 1926! Although we've known about creatine for quite some time, the first real use of it to enhance performance was the 1992 Olympic games in Barcelona, Spain.
Creatine will moderately boost performance.
What does it do and what scientific studies give evidence to support this?
Creatine is bodybuilding's ultimate supplement, and for good reason. For one thing, creatine can significantly increase lean muscle mass. It is also responsible for improving performance in high-intensity exercise, increasing energy levels, and speeding up recovery rates. It's no wonder athletes who use it have such of an edge over those who do not. Soon nearly every athlete who competes will use it (if they don't already). Creatine's ability to enhance energy reserves in muscles comes from its muscle protein synthesizing action, while minimizing protein breakdown. This occurs because creatine has the awesome effect of super-hydrating muscle cells with water. It enhances muscle growth too-making muscle fibers bigger and stronger.
Sure sounds like steroids. I can't account for everything it says here because I have no way to measure my muscle fibres or the protein synthesizing action that creatine supposedly exhibits. However, I will go over the effects I experienced from the use of this creatine in the category entitled "effectiveness" located below.
I felt the claim was misleading at points. Therefore, in regards to the claim, I award Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate a 6/10.
I found that Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate had a fairly neutral taste when mixed in water. However, I would recommend mixing it with a carbohydrate (grape juice or dextrose), because this will eliminate any adverse taste and improve the uptake of creatine (less wasted through digestion). Also, my investigation into creatine has shown me that mixture with protein (such as whey protein) also improves the uptake of creatine. Therefore, when I take creatine pre-workout, I will often take it in a flavoured beverage such as Gatorade. If I take creatine post-workout, I will take it in a protein shake mixed with carbohydrates. Anyways, I was satisfied with the neutral taste of Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate and was happy to mix it into more satisfying beverages. Therefore, for taste, I award Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate a 7/10.
I found that Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate mixed in well. However, there was settling at the bottom of the mixture, especially if you let it sit for a minute. This can be avoided by shaking and drinking, and by mixing in a bit of water at the end to consume any remaining supplement. However, it is a bit of an inconvenience. The texture of Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate was hardly noticeable. Therefore, for mixability/texture, I award Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate a 7/10.
The claim noted that; Quite a few studies have been done on creatine to figure out why and how it works so well. There have been over twenty double blind (meaning neither the researchers nor the subjects knew who was getting what), placebo-controlled studies conducted on creatine in the past five years. They proved that creatine increased energy levels, resulting in increased strength, endurance levels, and recovery rates. Another unexpected benefit attributed to creatine was discovered as well: creatine accelerates fat loss, while building lean body mass!
When using Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate I noticed: an increase in energy, providing more endurance (few extra reps) and more power (heavier weight). My recovery rates may have increased slightly. However, these gains are moderate. You may be able to lift 10 or 15 more pounds, for more repetitions too, or some other similar example. However, this will occur overtime with creatine use (I use it for cycles of 2 months) and is nowhere comparable to serious steroid cycle gains. I notice an increase in muscle fullness during creatine cycles. In terms of a supplement, Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate is very effective. Therefore, for effectiveness, I award Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate 9/10.
I found that the claim was misleading at points. I found the taste was satisfactory and easily mixable with other beverages. The mixability/texture was satisfactory. Most importantly, the effectiveness of Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate is great (in comparison to other supplements). Higher Power offers this creatine at a very competitive price (one of the best I've found) and it's a quality product you can rely on. Therefore, for an overall review, I award Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate a 7.5/10.
