Chef Jay's Tri-O-Plex Cookies Review By Matt C.
I have recently been reviewing a lot of supplements in an effort to provide the visitors of BodybuildingPro.com with the most accurate and detailed information possible. First and foremost, I want to provide honest reviews, and give rich details explaining how I incorporated each of the supplements in my diet. These days, most people are all about convenience and more often than not convenience means golden arches. Health conscious free market enterprises like Chef Jay's have come out with a variety of products aimed at providing healthful products which take the form of various "junk food" type items based on external appearances. But don't get things confused! Chef Jay's products are nutritionally sound, despite looking like tasty treats. =)
Each package of Tri-O-Plex cookies contains two cookies which has a total of 290 calories. So each cookie is 145 calories and contains 10 grams of fat, 22 grams of sugars, 1 gram of dietary fiber, and last but not least, 20 grams of protein. See above for more detailed nutritional information on the product.
Taste:
The flavour which I tried was "Oatmeal Raisin" although the following flavours are also available through Chef Jay's:
- Chocolate Chip
- Double Chocolate Chip
- Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip
- White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut
The reason why I tried the oatmeal raisin flavour was because I like oatmeal cookies and wanted to see how they compare. I will say that for the most part, they are similar to oatmeal cookies you can buy anywhere else, but do leave somewhat of an aftertaste which is hard to describe, but those who are used to eating protein bars and other similar products will know the type of aftertaste I'm talking about - it's to be expected in such products and didn't really bother me.
Incorporating the Bars in a Complete Diet:
Since these cookies basically look and taste like dessert, I would recommend eating them as such - eat one cookie after a meal to get some extra calories in so that you can have a nutritious dessert which is good for the body and for the mind. Another option would be to eat two cookies alone or with a piece of fruit and glass of skim milk for instance. These are just examples, as there are many ways to incorporate the cookies in a balanced bodybuilding or weight loss diet.
Digestibility:
Like every other product I've ever consumed, I've had no problems at all digesting the Tri-O-Plex cookies. I've never had a problem with any product and didn't expect a problem here and I'm happy to report that my prediction came true.
Overall Review:
Chef Jay's Tri-O-Plex Cookies are Matt approved. =) My only comment is that they are somewhat high in sugar, but that is the cost to be expected for those seeking flavour in their nutritional supplements without artificial sweeteners. I would personally much rather have a product with sugar in it than chemical sweeteners for the main reason that we as human beings have been processing sugar in our bodies for years and years and we know have adequate knowledge about the effects on our bodies. Chemical sweeteners have not been around for nearly as long and a lot of research is inconclusive, so I would prefer to avoid those sweeteners if possible, although a lot of supplements contain them, so it is kind of difficult to completely avoid them while making an effort to review a variety of products. For a box of 24 packages each containing two cookies, the cost is $22.89, which works out to just under $1 for each package of two. This is a good price taking into consideration everything, so it will be up to you and your budget to determine whether or not you will want to include them in your diet.
