AllMax Nutrition IsoFlex Review By Matt Canning
As usual, I am all about trying as many flavours of protein powders as possible in order to determine the overall value of each on an absolute scale and relative to other protein powders available. I care mostly for nutritional content, but also review for other qualities that other people look for in a protein supplement - examples include taste and mixability.
Taste:
There was something different about the taste of AllMax Nutrition's IsoFlex and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I also won't say that this difference was a positive one. It kind of tasted a little weird - tolerable for sure, but something almost artificial like the taste you would expect from a creatine or glutamine shake. I tried the chocolate flavour which claimed it was made from real chocolate chips. On the front of the package it also said it contained an NOS complex, glutamine complex, and IS complex. If you read above you can see more specific details of the nuritional information. It also said that it did indeed contain artificial flavour which may have been part of the reason why it tasted as it did. I also suspect the NOS complex and glutamine complex played a role in that as well. If you want to get an idea of the taste, picture drinking a protein shake mixed with either a glutamine or NOS product, or both. This will give you the idea and it is basically exactly what you would expect for that.
Mixability/Texture:
I tried my sample pack of AllMax Nutrition IsoFlex mixed with skim milk and poured the milk into a shaker bottle first and emptied the packet into it after that. It mixed pretty well and was basically totally smooth to drink. I imagine it would also be perfectly smooth if blended in a blender. For those of you who consider a well mixing protein powder to be a good thing, you will not be disappointed with IsoFlex.
Digestibility:
As with literally 100% of protein powders and weight gain powder products which I have tried in the past, AllMax Nutrition's IsoFlex digested perfectly with no problems whatsoever. I will admit that I may just be lucky when it comes to protein supplements though since I have a long history of never having any problems with them!
Effectiveness
Since I only tried a one day sample of IsoFlex, I can't adequately comment on the effectiveness of the product over the long term. Based on the nutritional content, it offers everything that a regular protein powder offers as well as the NOS complex and glutamine complex. Personally, I do not believe in glutamine for bodybuilding from a scientific point of view, but with any other product on the market, the decision is up to the user to figure out whether or not they feel such a product is worth their while. The NOS complex is definitely an added bonus and something that I would be happy to see included in protein powders which I include.
Overall Review:
AllMax Nutrition's IsoFlex is a great protein powder if you like the addition of other nutritional supplements combined in one for one convenience shake mix. You can get 2 lbs for only $27.29 and 5 lbs for only $55.99 and it comes in a variety of flavours for those who like taste. To me, it would all come down to whether or not you would want to see your supplements combined, or wish to take them separately. Personally, I am not a fan of glutamine, but if you are, this may be the mix for you.
